Simposio de Seguridad Alimentaria
The screening of the documentary film “Vanishing of the Bees” is a DESTINO TV effort – to be part of the campaign in creating awareness amongst our community on how important bees are to our agriculture.
The screening will be held on May 2, 2011 (Monday) at 6:30pm at Amphitheater P 213 in the building of the Faculty of Agriculture (Jesus T Piñero) at the UPR Mayaguez Campus.
Destino TV collaborates with the Agricultural Student Association and Dr. Pesante (mentor of the organization and professor with a PhD in Beekeeping in Puerto Rico) to hold the screening during the activity “Semana de Seguridad Alimentaria en Puerto Rico”. The goal of this week-long activity is to educate about the local and international food security and food crisis. The event will also hold other conferences, documentaries and an Open House of the Campus’ Laboratory Farm. For more information, you may look in Facebook under the group: Estudiantes Agricultores. This event has been promoted within the entire campus community and other organizations related to environment and agriculture.
Special guest, Film Producer of Vanishing of the Bees, Maryam Henein will be present at the screening. This event has an extensive press coverage from our friends at El Nuevo Dia. Destino TV and Natural Awakenings will also be present during the event. The Board of Directors of Apiarios Caraballos, a family agri business dedicated to the maintenance of the honey bee colonies and the production, bottling and sale of 100% pure multi floral honey, have also decided to support and join the DESTINO TV family in our efforts.
